Re: “What's the value of a sign?

As long as the chicken recipe hasn't changed I think I'm good with it.

Re: “What's the value of a sign?

The new sign looks a lot like the old one when you consider how much worse it could have been.

Re: “What's the value of a sign?

I agree with everything you said, and as a designer am constantly dismayed at the dumbing-down of our visual landscape, but truthfully I didn't spend much time caring about this particular example. The old sign was done in the low-cost vernacular of the time. This new one is done in the low-cost vernacular of today, which just happens to be digital and clip-art-y. I'd prefer to have the old one, but I can't expect reverence for design and retro charm out of every business.

The change is insignificant, and if you hadn't written this article I wouldn't have even noticed.

Re: “Recipe: Pumpkin Pie with Brown Butter Gingersnap Crust

I made this pie last night and it's f@#$ing delicious. Having to delete all your profanities to get to the recipe made for a good story at the table, the cinnamon whipped cream is insane, and my friends kept taking spoonfuls of pie and whipped cream until the whole thing was gone. (I thought one woman was going to rub it all over herself, for heaven's sake.) The only thing is: the filling was a little runny. The next time I make it, I'm going to use a whole can of pumpkin, reduce the amount of cream in the filling, and cut down on the sugar just a bit. Other than that, this is crazy good.

Re: “Recipe: Pumpkin Pie with Brown Butter Gingersnap Crust

Your opening line is uncalled for and turns more people off than necessary. The recipe itself and other comments can stand on their own without dropping the "F-bomb". I'm wondering if you are doing this for the shock value to make you stand out more? Regardless, the recipe sounds yummy and I'm going to give it a try.

Ridiculous bit of tone shaming from "dan"... Oh my god, someone said "ass" ... everything of value is ruined.... simply ridiculous notion, perpetuated by wrinkled old shrivs...

Re: “Recipe: Pumpkin Pie with Brown Butter Gingersnap Crust

Nice use of the English language. Feel better now? You remind me of the idiot I recently encountered driving the wrong way down the aisle in the parking lot. I stopped and pointed it out to him and his response was *uck you *itch. Nice! I used to admonish my children that their I.Q. diminished a point for each profane utterance that issued from their face. Clearly I was correct. Get a clue and raise your I.Q. .... But I suppose that is not the audience you are aiming for. Too bad you made your recipe not matter.

Re: “Featured Cocktail: The Dirty Ol' Punk'n

Sounds delish, Nicole. My cocktail creation made it on the Liquid Diet on August 29th! :) I'll have to come and try this one.

Re: “Eating With Your Dollars: The best fast food money can buy

Hi! I've been juicing for a while now. Made a 14day juicing fast and felt great so I've kept the green juicing as part of my morning routine! I do travel a lot though, I see you travel too, so my question is: did you travel all that way with your breville packed? (I have a breville also! Yay!) if not, how do you make sure the hotel will prepare your juice every morning? Thanx for the great tips!

Re: “Crockpot Recipe: Turkey Pumpkin Chili

When you say one can do pumpkin, do you mean a large or small?

Re: “Recipe: Potato, Leek, and Cauliflower Soup

Wow, this recipe is great! It's fairly quick and easy to prepare with lots of flavor. I also made a spicy batch with a jalapeƱo tossed in. Thanks - I'm keeping this one!

Re: “Recipe: Okonomiyaki

One of the culinary highlights I'll never forget from my study abroad in Japan was bellying up to a hole in the wall counter in Hiroshima, where as locals know, is the only place to get a "true" okonomiyaki. It was truly delicious in a "I don't know what's in my mouth but I love it" kind of way. And it's much more enjoyable than the traditional Vietnamese yellow pancake Ban xeo, imho. Thanks for highlighting it!
