Re: “Burn, Witch, Burn, The Last American Virgin, Mad Max: Fury Road among new home entertainment titles

Could you imagine the reaction from the South when Guess Who's Coming to Dinner received when it was released? I wonder how it did money wise here. I know it was one of the top 5 grossing films of the year elsewhere.

Re: “Burn, Witch, Burn, The Last American Virgin, Mad Max: Fury Road among new home entertainment titles

The scene where Spencer Tracy gives that long speech at dinner where what people will think of an interracial couple in 1967 does not matter. Only what they feel for each other was shot in one take... Spencer Tracy was dying when he made this film. Katherine Hepburn and Stanley Kramer gave up their salary for the film to cover cost in case Tracy died during production... Columbia could not get him insured because of his declining health...
The tears you saw Katherine Hepburn and Sidney Poitier shedding were real, that was not scripted. Some great performers in a poignant farewell to one of the best actors ever.

Re: “Fantastic Four: Doom watch

Thanks for writing, FranklinDallas and Alice. Ha; I like Fraggle Rock as well, but "suspense" isn't a word I would exactly associate with it. :)

Re: “Irrational Man an erratic movie

"Irrational Man" was great and Emma Stone dazzled once again. I hope Mr. Romance continues to cast her because she's so charismatic and versatile (two qualities that the stoic Mia Farrow lacked). I wouldn't put this film on the same level as Radio Days, Match Point or Midnight in Paris; but it's certainly worthy of AT LEAST a 3 out of 4-star rating. Woody Allen never ceases to amaze me. ALL of his films are better than 90% of the crap that manages to seep its way through theaters and "Irrational Man" is no exception. -AKR

Re: “Irrational Man an erratic movie

Hi, Msnomer. I'm sorry you feel the movie has been ruined. I'm very careful not to add spoilers to my reviews. Which part do you think qualifies as a spoiler? I don't think I included anything that hasn't been mentioned in other reviews, interviews, etc.

Re: “Irrational Man an erratic movie

A spoiler alert would have been greatly appreciated! Now the movie I wanted to see has been ruined for me. Thanks.

Re: “Bright cast partly saves flimsy Paper Towns

As someone who is a huge fan of the novel, I was incredibly disappointed with the adaptation. Cara Delevingne was to bland and uncharismaic to play Margo. The rest of the cast was great but it was a shame to see such a interesting character be tossed into the the hands of such a dull actress.

Re: “Bright cast partly saves flimsy Paper Towns

I hate a plot that takes you nowhere and this film is a prime example. At the end Margo has no interest in him and neither did she in the very beginning. Sadly a young Quentin couldn’t accept this. And here comes the bad news: Opposites don’t attract. -AKR

Re: “Look! Up On The Screen!: The best and worst superhero films of all time

The first Ninja Turtles was a contender for the 5 worst list? That movie is great. I could see II or III on there, but to say any of them was a contender is pretty harsh.

Re: “Come with me if you want to escape Terminator Genisys

Ryan: I never said he was a Terminator. I said that the young cop character seen in 1984 became the character later played by J.K. Simmons in 2017. But thanks for reading!

Re: “Come with me if you want to escape Terminator Genisys

"The noodling of time has also resulted in the appearance of both a liquidy T-1000 (the G.I. Joe series' Byung-hun Lee) and a cop who transforms into J.K. Simmons when the movie picks back up in 2017. "

What?? JK Simmons was NEVER a terminator. How can I take this review seriously when it sounds like you never actually saw the movie?

Re: “Come with me if you want to escape Terminator Genisys

Nope, sorry. It DOES deserve all the vitriol it's getting. Ridiculous plot, boring unoriginal action scenes, and really bad casting. Jai Courtney is the type of actor who is good as Vince Vaughn's sidekick in a Judd Apatow movie. He didn't cut it as Reese at all. And don't get me started on Emilia Clarke! So agree with Mr. Brunson on this one.

Re: “Come with me if you want to escape Terminator Genisys

I think the latest film is far from perfect - I hesitate to call it a "good" movie - but it certainly does not deserve the vitriol it has received. It is unquestionably superior in almost every respect to the previous two films. At a bare minimum, it presented some very well done action set pieces and was visually exciting and fun (something that cannot be said for the pedestrian Terminator 3, nor for the dour and boring Terminator Salvation) in a way that kept me engaged with the action, even if I was baffled by the plot.

I will agree that Danearys was miscast as Sarah Connor and the actor who played Kyle Reece was useless. However, I thought the John Connor actor managed to be creepy and menacing as the new terminator, and I just can't not love Arnie in his iconic T800 role.

Re: “Come with me if you want to escape Terminator Genisys

I kinda laughed at the name they kept for Arnold’s Terminator character. Pops, I mean it does go with the whole look and stuff but this was just weird and funny. As for the action stunts and all, it looks to be pretty normal but better than the previous ones. My favorite actor in the movie was Jai Courtney and that is why I bought the Jai Courtney Jacket from an online store.
