Bolstered by her sweet-but-sultry vocals, Americana artist Lera Lynn is instantly captivating from the moment she steps on stage. There’s plenty of Nashville coming through on her country-tinged tunes, as well. She’s a lot more Jessica Lea Mayfield and Lydia Loveless than anything sonically approaching Taylor Swift (especially these days). Her latest album, The Avenues, was released in September. Through satirical installations, Willie Little parallels the KKK’s and the Tea Party’s rise to mainstream awareness, as well as juxtaposing ideas between the Tea Party and hip-hop culture. In the exhibit: a 20-foot tall KKK hood; a gold-leafed, diamond-encrusted Mercedes Benz medallion; a gown adorned with black tea bags; and minstrel-like dolls, created by painting white dolls black.
