They may not be straight on the alphabet, but those Greeks can sure stage a festival. Unlike those cookie-cutter celebrations that come and vanish overnight on Tryon Street, this annual Dilworth classic has plenty of sharply defined flavor and character. And it’s at a place — the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on East Boulevard. Yes, there’s an event in Charlotte where you can freely park your car, grab an ethnic nosh, cruise a cultural exhibit, and still feel like you’re in a neighborhood. A far-out concept for Charlotte, but one we’ll be greeting with open arms when the 34th annual Yiasou! returns to us on Sept. 8-11. www.yiasoufestival.org
