Bizarre crime from Charlotte police files (April 23)

Theft alert

Kid-on-Kid Theft: A 13-year-old and 15-year-old reported that they were walking down the street in Sedgefield when three juvenile males came up behind them, pick-pocketed them and ran off. Among the items taken were an iPod 5, an LG phone with a cracked screen, $74 and a pack of mint gum. I wish I had $74 when I was 13/15 years old ...

They Have Craft Beer, Too: Someone walked into a Ballantyne-area Harris Teeter, loaded up a shopping cart full of cases of beer and tried to leave with it. Police charged the person with larceny after taking the $195.06 worth of Bud Light. Yep, all of those options and they went for the Bud Light.

Part-Time Thief, Part-Time Interior Decorator: Someone broke into the home of a University-area couple by breaking the glass of the rear door and entering the residence. Two 42-inch flat screen TVs were taken along with three gold bracelets and a popcorn container filled with various coins worth about $200. That's not all; they also took a queen-sized comforter and damaged the screen of a window as they exited through a bedroom of the house.

So Glad They Found Them: A 26-year-old north Charlotte man called police after two suspects entered his car and took three bags of miscellaneous clothes worth approximately $500, a disposable lighter and two black condoms. Police recovered all of the items in the woods nearby.

What's Cooking?: Police were called after a man walked into a South Boulevard Food Lion and concealed a number of Accent spices and a container of Morton season salt in his coat and pants pockets before attempting to leave the store.

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
