Bizarre crime from Charlotte police files (Feb. 11)

Eating ones way to the cell

Things That Go Bump In The Night: A 23-year-old woman called police to her Mallad Creek-area residence after an unknown male entered her apartment at 3 a.m. one week earlier. The intrusion was described as accidental and without criminal intent. Apartment complex staff changed the locks on the front door, but was also described as "unhelpful." Was her door locked? Where was he trying to go? Why did she wait a week to call police? ... really, what's going on here?

Didn't Get The Message: An unknown male sent at least 95 text messages to a 38-year-old west Charlotte woman, even after he was told he had the wrong number. The texts and photos were sent in a four-hour period early one February morning. Did he hope after the 95th message she'd say, "I'm just kidding. It's me."

13?!?: Police were called after a 13-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were caught sending nude photos to each other. See, this is why my daughter can't date until she's 40.

Rich Roommate Wanted: A 21-year-old University-area man called police after someone stole his laptop. Upon arrival the victim told police that several other items, including cash, had been taken over the last year. There are four other people residing at the apartment, and the victim suspects it was one of them, but isn't sure who. Maybe he should stick around to find out ...

You Suck As A Neighbor: A Double Strike Nerf gun was recovered in east Charlotte and turned into police. Seriously? So when the neighbor leaves his tricycle outside, I'm supposed to have cops come to remove it?

Keep An Eye On Her: A 52-year-old University-area woman called police after her $5,000 diamond tennis bracelet was stolen. Here's the kicker — she doesn't want to press charges and doesn't want to name possible suspects. The woman told police that she just wants the incident documented. We'll watch out for any 52-year-old women arrested for assault in the near future.

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
