Bizarre crimes from Charlotte police files (Feb. 21)

Rice crisy treats laced with weed? Yum.

Pump'd: A man called police last week after an unknown suspect monkeyed around with his car at a gas station. The man said he started pumping gas and went inside the station for a cup of coffee. When he returned to his vehicle, the gas pump was removed, a banana left in its place. The victim didn't see anyone in the parking lot before or after the incident.

Dunce: Police responded to Oakdale Road Elementary School last week after a parent took to disciplining his child's teacher. The teacher said she was standing in her room after school hours with a co-worker when the parent came into the room, "obviously in a rage." The man said his son had come home crying and told him it was because of his teacher. The man "shouted, cursed and screamed vulgar words" at the woman and left her visibly shaken. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Reality Bytes: A 51-year-old man filed a police report last week after finding some questionable charges on his and his wife's credit card. The man said that over a span of six months, an unknown suspect spent $3,500 on avatar chatting sites, in which people create characters to exist within a virtual world. The charges mostly included fees for the sites and clothing for the characters the suspect created.

Snap, Crackle, Pot: A man was arrested close to West Mecklenburg High School last week after police found that the Rice Krispies snacks he was eating were laced with weed. The man had already eaten a few but had four left, which police seized.

The Not-So-Great Escape: A taxi driver flagged down a police officer last week after a passenger became belligerent in the back seat. The officer soon realized he would need backup. When it arrived, the driver was standing in the middle of the street and the suspect, also on the street, was drunkenly screaming and cursing. When the suspect saw the police, he jumped back into the cab and pleaded with the driver to help him escape. Police dragged him out and called medics. While being treated, the man grabbed a female paramedic's finger and bent it backwards. Police were then happy to give him the ride he had been looking for.

Threat of the Week: A 21-year-old woman filed a police report last week after her ex-boyfriend decided he could kill two birds with one bullet. The man wrote a disturbing message on her Facebook wall that threatened her and her new boyfriend. The message said, "I will shoot thru his head to get to urs."

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
