House Guest From Hell: A woman taught her ex-boyfriend a lesson last week in east Charlotte after he tried to put her out on the streets. A 58-year-old man told police that his ex showed up at his house and asked if she could stay with him because she had nowhere else to go. He invited her in but soon opened the door to show her the way out. That's when she allegedly grabbed him and threw him off the front porch. While he was down, he said, the woman went through his pockets and took all of his cash. She then reportedly went inside the house and grabbed some of his vinyl records before leaving.
Car-ried Away: A man woke up to find his car missing from his driveway last week. Little did he know just what the car was in store for. Later in the day, a woman attempted to run out of a local Walmart with a dehumidifier. When security tried to block her in the parking lot, the woman rammed their vehicle with her car, got out and ran away with the stolen goods. The car was found to be the one reported missing from the man's house.
Paint It Black: A kid's Nintendo DS was stolen in southwest Charlotte last week after he left it on the front porch for a few minutes. Later in the week, the kid was hanging out at a neighbor's house when he noticed that his friend suddenly had a new Nintendo DS. But it didn't look right. The neighbor had painted the Nintendo DS black, concealing most of the original red color. Ultimately, it did not matter to whom the DS belonged, because painting the portable gaming system ruined it.
Bad Credit: A 50-year-old man received an odd offer over the phone last week. The man said he answered a call from an unknown number and someone asked him, "Do you want to lower your credit card payment?" He told them that he was not interested, to which the man on the other line replied, "I'm going to kill you, rape your wife and kidnap your kids."
Hell On Wheels: A 41-year-old woman called police and fire rescue last week after her roommate tried to kill himself and take her property with him. The woman told officers that the man attempted suicide by sitting in her car and lighting the interior on fire. The man decided not to follow through, however, and got out of the car before it became fully engulfed. His life was saved; the car was not.
