Upcoming events in the Q.C.

THURSDAY, NOV. 1 The championship event to end all championship events is what awaits you tonight. Never before have the superstars of dirt racing been seen on the same track. The culmination of both the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the World of Outlaws Late Models is the World of Outlaws World Finals. A purse of over $200,000 has been posted for the finals, with $10,000 paid to the winner of the four feature events. See the likes of Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana, Jac Haudenschild (phew!), Chub Frank, Clint Smith and Darrell Lanigan on the same card. Pit Party to be announced. Show your WoO ticket for free admission to the Mid-Atlantic Farm Show at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. 7 p.m. $10/$5. The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Pkwy South, Concord, N.C. www.lowesmotorspeedway.com.

FRIDAY, NOV. 2 Michael Krajewski conducts this medley of your favorite tunes from the silver screen. Hooray for Hollywood will sweep from Gone With the Wind's "Tara's Theme" to other classics like the theme from The Magnificent Seven, Titanic, The Wizard of Oz, James Bond and more. Come out and take a audio-visual (courtesy of imagination) trip down memory lane as your favorite movie moments are played by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. 8 p.m. $16-$68. Belk Theater, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.charlottesymphony.org.

SATURDAY, NOV. 3 Think you're high maintenance? Each member of the Blue Man Group needs an hour before each show to primp, that is, cover their faces with grease paint. Despite the wait, the blue-faced trio is ready to wow Charlotte with the How to be a Megastar Tour 2.1. With music, comedy, and multimedia theatrics, these guys are sure to come up with another smash hit that will leave audiences feeling anything but blue. 8 p.m. $55-$85. Charlotte Bobcats Arena, 333 E. Trade St. 704-522-6500. www.charlottebobcatsarena.com. (Meredith Kanitra)

SATURDAY, NOV. 3 So, being women, Beyoncé and Crew AKA Destiny's Child had a slew of hits based on essentially (and I hate to say this) girl power. Women have long been regarded as the weaker sex; however, when you focus on the size of their workload as it pertains to physical size – actually they're stronger. But, even "Superwoman" needs to take a break, step back and recharge her batteries. That's where the "Step Back & Leap Further!" Workshop & Women's Retreat comes into play. Empowerment Spa has created a safe overnight haven for women to "retreat, release, and rebound." It's open to any woman who needs a rest and wants to rediscover the bonds of sisterhood. 11 a.m. Charlotte, N.C. 615-826-9221. www.stepbackleapfurther.com.
