Coming Soon ...

Charlotte is bursting into bloom with the coming of spring, and new businesses are no exception, popping up like daffodils in the warm weather. Here are a few to look forward to in the coming months:

The Facial Room

Opening March

OK, The Facial Room will officially be open by the time you read this, but we'd be daft to neglect it. Their tag line is "where pampering begins!" (and should never end), and with an affordable "menu" of services ranging from pumpkin peels to foot reflexology, The Facial Room hopes customers leave their establishment with a relaxed mind, body and spirit. We hope for a paraffin hand treatment. Everyone wins. 4832 Park Road, Suite B

Petra's Piano Bar and Cabaret

Opening April 13

Modeled after the West Village piano bars in New York City, Charlotte is long overdue for the energetic, musical adventure that Petra's strives to be. Owner/production manager Robb Huddleston tells CL that in addition to the singing wait staff and piano songs, there will be a small theater attached for performances from local players and eager amateurs. 1919 Commonwealth Ave.

Flava Factory

Opening mid to late April

Like its counterpart on South Boulevard, Flava Factory is bringing urban style and attitude to one of the most bustling neighborhoods in Charlotte. Central's Flava Factory will boast sneakers (no hum-drum Adias or Reeboks here; FF's shoes have more color than Van Gogh on an absinthe trip), accessories, and designer streetwear. 1519 Central Ave.

The Pub

Opening late April, early May

This modern spin on the local pub sports flat screen plasma TV's and deli wraps instead of the usual quaint dank look and fish n'chips found in most pubs. So, belly up to the bar at this neighborhood pub, watch a game, and have the friendly atmosphere you so desire -- just on granite countertops with a modern style. Gateway Village, 710 W. Trade St.

Rustic Martini

Opening May

The highlight of this private membership bar will be the lighted bar -- a winding honey onyx bar that will glow alongside its soon-to-be posh patrons. With 55 free (yes, free) parking spots, inexpensive membership and a huge patio that will comfortably seat 50 to 60 people, everyone will feel like having their martini's shaken and stirred. 616 N. Tryon St.

Maddi's Southern Bistro

Opening early May

Described as "Southern with a twist," Maddi's Southern Bistro will certainly have an artistic Southern flair. Patrons will stroll through the attached Art Gallery to enter the bistro, where the dishes and the wine glasses are exclusively made by artists, and available for purchase. 16925 Birkdale Commons Parkway, Suite A, Attached to Maddi's Gallery.
