Dee Grano's Top Five

Director of marketing and special events at The Light Factory

Dee Grano, originally from south Louisiana, is the director of marketing and special events at The Light Factory, a contemporary museum of photography and film located on College Street.

1) Books: "1 Dead in Attic by Chris Rose, who is a reporter for the Times-Picayune. It's interesting because it's a collection of pieces he wrote during Katrina. He became the voice of the people stuck in New Orleans. The name [of the book] comes from what they spray-painted across houses when people died in their attics."

2) Eats: "One of my favorite restaurants is Alexander Michaels. I love it because they have great beer, excellent food. It's a very warm, cozy, welcoming place. I like off the wall, independent places."

3) Films: "Caché. It's a foreign film, a French film, about a couple who receives strange videotapes in the mail, which are recordings of their life. I like French movies because they're mysterious and leave a lot to the imagination."

4) Filmmaker: "Steven Soderbergh. His work is always thought-provoking. He's done Sex, Lies, and Video Tape. Erin Brockovich. He also directed Traffic.

5) Music: "I really like any music that's well-done, but I really like unknown singer/songwriter folks, alternative and lounge music." Right now one of the albums she's listening to is Love Me Like the Roses, by the Divine Maggees.
