Kind of left out a big point about why drug supply decreases right before a big event; because dealers are restricting supply to make sure they have plenty of product to sell when the prices they charge will be considerably greater during the event. For example, before the Superbowl in Detroit, supply of street drugs (not rich people's powder coke, e.g.) almost completely dissappeared. In this case, they chose not to make as much crack and save the powder for the extraordinary supply of wealthy individuals who come into town during a Superbowl. Dealers understand basic economics of supply and demand better than most Congressmen.
