Latest discovery: Bijuju Accessories Boutique

Stocked with everything from necklace sets to hats to scarves

"It's always a beautiful day at Bijuju!" When a store goes the chipper route for its standard phone greeting, you know you can expect your shopping experience to err on the side of all things delightful.

Opened last November in Blakeney shopping center, this is the first Bijuju store to grace Charlotte. The company, which was founded in 2004, has nine locations throughout the Southeast. Its name may be fun to say, but it's not frivolous: rather, it's a combination of Biju, the store owner's name, and "bijou," French for the word jewel.

The accessories boutique is stocked with everything from necklace sets to hats to scarves. Striving to balance the varied merchandise of a department store with the personalized feel of a boutique, everything on display has been color-coordinated. "That's one of the key features of our stores," says assistant manager Sheraz Wiley. "We want it to be easy for our customers and pleasing to the eye."

Another Bijuju store staple is the attention provided by sales personnel. Wiley emphasizes the personalized aspect of the services rendered, saying, "What differentiates us from other boutiques here in Charlotte is that we really do a kind of personal shopping. A lot of our clients come in with an outfit in mind and we help them accessorize their look."

The store's success already has owners pondering expansion in the Charlotte area. With most of the pieces falling within the $15-35 price range, Bijuju's affordability keeps the crowds coming. "Our wrap watches have been really popular this year. So have our mixed metal pieces. And of course, spring and summer always bring out the brights. This season it's been yellow and neon green, turquoise and teal."

Bijuju is located at 9856-H Rea Road. www.bijuju.com.
