Redneck Games

Turner South's 'Yokel' makes Jackasses of us all

Yokel is essentially Jackass for Rednecks. The show follows three good-time buddies -- (Johnny Knoxville crony) Storm, Skillet and Kevin -- who travel to small Southern towns in order to "capture local flavor on camera."

In the premier episode, the trio head to Dublin, GA, for, predictably, the annual Redneck Games. Our hosts first set up camp in a ratty motel, where there's far too much footage of them standing around drinking beer and discussing their bowel movements and porn.

They soon pick up Randy "L-Bow" Tidwell, the resident king of rednecks who carries around a beer-can blow torch. The perpetually drunk Tidwell would be a hoot if it weren't for the sad fact that he's pushing 50 and accompanied by his wife and daughter.

Potbellies, goatees and bad tattoos abound once the boys make it to the Redneck Games, where attendees compete in events like the mud-pit belly flop and bobbing for pigs' feet. With lines like, "If titties were currency that'd be one rich bitch" and "There's nothing wrong with a little butt and wiener love," Yokel is equally offensive to Southerners, women and gays. In other words, it's the ideal show for the mouth-breathers who tune in to MTV's Viva La Bam.

If this is your idea of Southern culture, Yokel began airing on Turner South on Sept. 9. For show times, go to www.turnersouth.com
