Stumptown No. 3 among new comic reviews

Behold -- a few quick reviews of a bunch of comics I've snagged lately:

Stumptown No. 3: At long last, the third edition of writer Greg Rucka's newest detective comic has finally hit comic shops -- and, yes, it was worth the wait. The mystery introduced in the first issue is starting to come to a dramatic head and things pick up action-wise as well. But my favorite part of the title? The behind-the-scenes "back matter" created by artist Matthew Southworth; this time around, he explains how hard it was designing a pack of frozen peas, among other stuff.

Captain America No. 605: Sometimes writer Ed Brubaker really delivers some entertaining adventures and sometimes he delivers a snoozer. Cap 605 -- which is incredibly padded and pointless -- goes in the "snoozer" file.

Green Hornet No. 3: This month, writer Kevin Smith serves up the demise of a hero -- and it's really no surprise. Three issues in, this comic (which is derived from a shelved film script by Smith) is coming off like a mediocre movie.

War of the Supermen No. 0: Setting the stage for the upcoming War of the Supermen limited series, this preview of sorts (released on Free Comic Book Day) is almost more entertaining and accessible than most of the "Superman Family" comics released last year. The art, by Eddy Barrows, alone makes this worth picking up.
