The CL guide to New Year's Eve 

Sneak a peek at your calendar and, as hard as it may seem to believe, you'll notice that New Year's Eve is almost upon us. So -- as usual -- we here at Creative Loafing have put together an extensive list of local NYE-oriented events. Now you have no excuse for sitting on your ass at home watching New Year's Rockin' Eve as 2008 comes to a close.

Of course, we don't know everything. For now, check out the list below for details on parties, dinners, concerts and other special events going down, and rest assured we'll be adding as more details come our way:

Parties

Exposed To Hollywood: New Year's Eve at Alive. Hosted by the celebrity host Greg Money-Man Jones. Features a red carpet starting at 9:30 p.m. (doors open at 10 p.m.), champagne giveaways, Victoria's Secret gift bags for the sexiest female, music by DJ Von Dutch and DJ Skinny Magic and a breakfast buffet after the festivities, serving food until 3 a.m. First 50 ladies get in free and everyone 21 and up gets in free until 11 p.m. For VIP table reservations, call 919-522-4462. A New Year's Evil: Purgatory. Single Cell Productions offers a night of erotic, fetish performances and industrial, EBM music. 18 and up. VIP tickets $25 in advance; $50 day of show. General admission tickets $20. 8 p.m. Amos' Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St. 704-377-6874. www.amossouthend.com.

A Night of Sin & Debauchery. Presented by The Sol Kitchen and Apostrophe Lounge, featuring food and a champagne toast. For ticket information, call 704-371-7079. $25. Apostrophe Lounge, 1440 S. Tryon St.

New Year's Eve Cocktails. Gallery Restaurant will offer festive cocktails and an "urban chill" lounge with music by DJ Collin. Free admission and a la carte pricing by selection. Attire is nice dress or business casual. New Year's Eve Voyage to Monte Carlo. InnerCircle Events presents this event, which features a complimentary buffet, a televised screening of New York's Times Square celebration and music from DJ Paradime. Cocktail attire is requested. No Theme, No Attitude NYE 2009. Free mechanical bull rides, a champagne toast at midnight and balloon drop. 18 and up. $20-$25. 9 p.m. Bar Charlotte, 300 N. College St. 704-342-2557. www.barcharlotte.com.

New York, New York: Big Night In The Big Apple. Featuring complimentary hors d'oeuvres, party favors and champagne toast at midnight. Back To The Future Bash. The year 1989 meets 2009 at this event, hosted by 107.9 The Link's Bandy Boo O'Brien. This New Year's Eve party offers party favors, access to all three levels of the club, a champagne toast, confetti blast at midnight and a great view of Uptown's fireworks display. $20 before Dec. 30; $25 after; $15 for members. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Breakfast Club, 225 N. Rich and Bennett's New Year's Eve Bash 2009. Party at the new Common House restaurant in Plaza Midwood. The event features appetizers, a dinner buffet from Hawthorne's Pizza, an open bar (from 9 p.m.- 2 a.m.), a champagne toast at midnight and music by DJ Kadence. Women, $60-$65; Men, $80-$85. BBW Masquerade Social and Networking Party. Event for big, beautiful women and big, handsome men in a formal environment.
