BRING ON THE BUBBLY: Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend takes over May 7-10
MAY 9 -- Big Bottles & Blues. Kick off your Friday night with the first event of the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend. Delight yourself in a casual atmosphere surrounded by winemakers and bottles ranging from magnums to six liters. Proceeds benefit Allegro Foundation, Charlotte Symphony, Johnson & Wales University scholarship fund and others. There will also be Southern cuisine, live music and an auction. So let the bidding begin and slurp up that wine for a good cause. $90. 7 p.m. Gateway Village Promenade, 800 W. Trade St. www.bestwines2008.com.
MAY 10 -- Swirl, Sniff And Sip. Keep sipping on Saturday as the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend continues. Enlighten yourself to the process of winemaking and give your senses a sample of the wines that peak your curiosity. $30. 11 a.m. Gateway Village Promenade, 800 W.
