Vida Cocina and Tequila Bar to open in Uptown

Posted By on Tue, Jan 19, 2010 at 6:16 PM

Restaurants seem to be popping up in Charlotte left and right. And here's another!

The latest news is that Vida Cocina and Tequila Bar will be opening across from the Ritz-Carlton at the intersection of Trade and College this spring/summer 2010. Vida will feature "evolved" Mexican cuisine. Among the dishes promised are grilled gulf shrimp tacos with jalapeno bacon and mango habanero salsa, tortilla crusted halibut and an adobo rubbed bone-in pork chop. Step aside, Salsaritas.

And about the tequila you ask? Don't worry – they will have over 100 tequila varieties stocked at their bar, including "Skinny Margaritas" made of organic, all-natural ingredients. (Are these the same Skinny Margaritas that were touted by Real Housewives of New York star Bethanny Frankel? Not sure.)

Vida is led by Swinyard (formerly of Dean and Deluca) and Sean Obrien (former managing partner of the Capital Grille), two veterans of the Charlotte dining scene.
