PHOTOS: Pinky's Westside Grill

In the old auto shop with the red, white, and blue VW Bug on the roof, Pinky's Westside Grill has opened in Wesley Heights on the corner of Morehead Street and Freedom Drive.

The restaurant with ties to The Penguin (read more about that here), offers a few familiar menu items as well as many different ones. You'll find the same tasty fried pickles at Pinky's, along with burgers and hot dogs. But you'll also see a variety of salads and sandwiches. All menu items have amusing, funny names.

The fried pickles were perfect and not oily. The waffle fries were big and crispy. Burgers come served in four "styles," or you can personalize your own burger. The turkey burger I ordered "Westside style" (topped with chili, slaw and onions) was surprisingly juicy. All for a total of $10.87, I'd say it was a bargain meal.

The parking lot in front of the restaurant is tiny, so I had to park across the street at the tattoo parlor. As of now, there is no "do not park" sign up ... yet. People were also parking in the lot further down Morehead Street, past the restaurant.
