EDITOR'S NOTE: Tickets are sold out! Hope you got yours!
If beer had a heaven, I’m pretty sure it would look like Oktoberfest. The sexy ladies dressed in beer maid costumes would be the angels, the bands strumming their guitars to keep up with the drunken hot-messes dancing in the fields would be the choir, and beer … well, I think we all know what role beer would play in beer heaven. All hail!
This year’s Oktoberfest will take place on Oct. 8 at Metrolina Expo from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. and is sure to be even better than the last. Dozens of brewing companies from all over the world are traveling to Charlotte just to wet our whistles. And I must say, what an honor. There’s a beer called the Deadeye Jack made by LoneRider Brewing Company — that’s on my personal list of things to try.
Now, I’ve never been big on the brewskies, but I have to be honest. I could totally take up a drinking habit in honor of this event.
Those with premium tickets will really have it good, as they’ll receive extra sampling of select beers. But general ticket holders can relish in a collectible 5-oz Charlotte Oktoberfest Tasting Glass, a sample from over 350 beers and a souvenir event guide with a map to help navigate from station to station. Depending on how drunk you are, you may need a human-guide as well!
Speaking of which, Oktoberfest doesn’t forget about our designated drivers. You know ... our sober buddies who end up feeding us white bread while we dry heave on the bathroom floor. All designated driver ticket holders will receive free food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages at their designated tents.
This year's Oktoberfest will benefit The Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, The Humane Society of Charlotte, and The Carolina Raptor Center.
General admission is $35, but tickets go extremely fast and will sell out. Metrolina Expo is located at 7100 Statesville Road.
