Re: “Breaking the Moon musical brings light to dark side

How could one put such power into words? To have seven teenagers perform a musical that could evoke so much emotion in such a short time is just incredible. Amy's writing, the songs, the performance were all amazing, all the while promoting an awareness of so many issues and pressures young people face. Definitely a must see for teens and adults alike.

Re: “Breaking the Moon musical brings light to dark side

Fantastic show, I laughed, I cried (a lot!), I remembered my own painful teenage years and watched in amazement as these young actors demonstrated the struggles kids today face with such power and poignancy. Such an important show, with the potential to help so many realize they are not alone and there is help.

Re: “Breaking the Moon musical brings light to dark side

An absolutely amazing group of teens performing stunning music and telling heartbreaking, but very real stories. Come and be filled with "Hope", "Grace", and "Light".

Re: “Breaking the Moon musical brings light to dark side

I really loved this show! The combination of so many great talents made me feel like I was right there, just listening to these teens talk about so many deeply personal issues, the way teens only do with eachother. The whole thing brought me right back to high school, reminding me how tough it is at that age, and how important it is that we can form some kind of dialogue with teenagers. This musical does that! I just wish that it would've been around when I was in high school!

Re: “Breaking the Moon musical brings light to dark side

Young adulthood is a harrowing journey. Breaking The Moon does a beautiful job echoing all the painful, confusing and intimate lessons we learn along the way.

Beautiful songs, wonderful acting, brave young people making important art. My sons and I were fortunate to have this extraordinary experience shared with us. We loved the show.

I was one of those in the sold out crowd and all I can say is, "Wow!!!" I didn't think that such a short musical would be so long on meaning. Bravo to Amy for her creative genius, for her artistic purity, and for her crazy crust of comedy!

Re: “Most of CPCC's Phantom's tricks are treats

I thought this review was spot on. I saw the show last night and it still had technical problems. The phantoms mic went out towards the end although that was the least of his problems. I found him to be lackluster and lacking in presence. Is that really the best they could find in Charlotte for a Phantom? Everyone around me felt the same way. It was a poor disservice to the young woman who played Christine as she was phenomenal. Her voice was amazing. I would say that save for the phantom the cast was outstanding. And I wholeheartedly agree that the costumes during masquerade were superb. The chandelier did stick out like a sore thumb, the pyrotechnics were gimmicky and not necessary and the snow machine was a joke. It was so loud that it was distracting.

For what it is this production was really good. It deserved the good turnout that it had. It's definitely an A+ for effort.

Re: “Most of CPCC's Phantom's tricks are treats

Perry's post runs a blurred line between an actual good 'review' and an obnoxious 'critique.' It's obvious that he enjoyed the show, but needed to find something to pick apart. Counting the seats in the Orchestra Pit? Really?

Re: “Theater review: Anything Goes

Billy and Hope sang ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, which is Cole Porter's ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, not the Welsh lullaby of the same name.
