Thanks for the reply, however why would there be "confusion and miscommunication" when the text of the bill is right there on the NCGA website?
Do you see any language in there that applies to the restrooms at private establishments? I do not. Did you contact Dan Bishop, the Charlotte attorney who was HB2's primary sponsor, if he envisioned HB2 being applied to private establishments?
As a Libertarian I want to see private establishments have control over their property. So I'm 100% supportive of the places that have put up their "our bathroom is open to everybody" signs. But I think it's pretty irresponsible to portray HB2 as either prohibiting restaurants/bars like Tommy's from building unisex bathrooms or forcing them to build three, when nothing in the language of the legislation as signed into law could be construed as containing such a
Dork Knight, I did put some thought into that before going to print, but I respectfully disagree with your take on it. I simply wanted to show an example of the confusion and miscommunication that's led to delays in opening a new location.
The bathroom issue and the fact that he thought he needed to build two more led to major delays in opening this spot. It's what he believed was needed, regardless of whether it was. That's why I confirmed with code enforcement and clearly reported that HB2 had not had any effect on how occupancy affects bathrooms. Definitely no "political posturing" intended.
HB2 has no effect on private bathrooms. Incredibly irresponsible for CL's editor to needlessly spread fear and inject ignorant political posturing into an otherwise-enjoyable article about a small business overcoming ad
Do something new. A "dive bar" doesn't just pop up instantly. Letting Tommy's Pub just die would be the most respectful thing to do in this situation. Are those twins still involved with The Dirty Hippie? Ask them what a good name for a new bar would be.
We're so happy to see Time Sawyer's growth but will miss them at the Muse. One correction - "In June, Time Sawyer played Triple C Brewing Co. and the brewery created a special beer, dubbed "Time Hop IPA," for the band." While Triple C did create a special (delicious) brew for the band, this special The Time Sawyer Soiree was also held at The Evening Muse.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!! READ before you go !!!
We - (my husband and I) came to eat here on Sunday evening at 8:15, there was no one in the restaurant except a couple of servers and the owner was hanging out outside. We asked them if they were open , the servers were unsure and so we started walking outside but the owner sent us back inside saying "we're open." We ordered a drink which they weren't sure how to make because we could hear them bickering amongst each other. We ordered our food and then we heard more bickering so we asked if there was a problem and the server told us that they didn't have fries, which is when the boss walked and in and said what's the problem we can get you fries from
Wendy's. We asked them if we could cancel the order altogether since it felt very awkward at that point. We wanted to pay for the drink which we had barely touched, to our surprise the boss yelled at us and said " just go , we don't want you here." He was extremely rude and practically threw us out , he seemed drunk and extremely unprofessional . I couldn't believe how he treated us just for wanting to cancel our order since they didn't have what we wanted in whole. My advise, Do not ever visit this place !!! There are much better places for kabob in the area !!
How does one get in the Best Of? Boy Scout Troop 11 has a following. Can we get judged in 2017? Our BBQ event is in March. Let me know. Ben House, email@example.com
Thanks for including Charlotte Contemporary! We have an amazing lineup of artists coming to the Queen City, so please join us Oct. 14 thru 16!!
Complete racist. Totally obvious, so sad, he ruins an otherwise great show.
"rates I worked hard to escape during my time in New York City"
LOL. The only kind of apartment you'd score for $1,200 in NYC would've come with 2 or 3 roommates. Plus in NYC the renter pays a broker a month's rent just to help them find a place.
And if you balk at paying a $149 app fee for an apartment, wait'll you see the fees associated with buying a house and taking out a mortgage. Oh, plus when the toilet clogs or the lawn need cutting, that's all on YOU.
@BrandonIamhiphop Man the struggle is indeed real....lol Thank you for sharing your journey.
The irony is that I literally just got my license reinstated after a brief 2 week suspension and my tags had been expired since the end of July. I just paid for that as well and it's only by the grace of God that no riff raft occurred so now I'm eagerly awaiting both new documents so I can get back to riding clean.
If it makes you feel any better, I do believe the Plaza Midwood growth can best be attributed to sprawl and the growth of residential units in what was formerly a commercial area.
THE Listening Room in the Southeast. If you are looking for an intimate setting, where the sound actually matters, The Evening Muse is that venue. Period.
Genre's are singer/songwriter, folk, country, blues, latin, alt, rock, its just the best place to hear exciting new artists and established ones as well. A MUST go-to for any live music fan. Never a bad show. And by the way, Joseph Michael Mahfoud has soul...I've seen SRV many times, and he would also agree with that assessment.
I was part of the villa heights community organization when that Cordelia Park mural was done and I must disagree with Jenna's statement. We applied for a matching grant from the city for this and both Will and especially his wife put in countless hours helping us fundraise so that we could have a nice neighborhood art project. Everyone from the community was invited to participate in the art work.
Can you still purchase megatickets?
I read every comment, I found the discourse interesting, ridiculous, uplifting and scary. For those high and mighty 'I know good music and this is bad' as was said in one comment its an art form. So you like abstract but hate realism or vice-versa...that doesn't mean the artist who created it is crap. By voicing your negativity, all you are really doing is voicing the personal frustrations you have of other things in your life.
Do you really, honestly care that much ab about your hate? On your deathbed will you reach for hate or remember those you have loved?
You know that answer, let love be the guide as you truly know you get what you give. So love the music you love, no reason to spend the energy spewing hate for an art form that doesn't appeal. Enjoy your life.
Great observations, Titus. Thanks for posting!
