Re: “First Drip (11/5/14): Tillis loses Mecklenburg but wins the war, more

TPT:

Make up your mind. Did she do absolutely nothing for 6 years or did she aggressively pursue the Obama agenda?

Have you forgotten that the unanimously obstructive GOP was called The Party Of No?

Thank God Obama's lap poodle Kay Hagen got fired. Enough of their happy Socialist horse apples.

Like a battered wife, no matter what "My Party" does to them, the chickens just keep voting for Col. Sanders. People are such sheep.

Re: “Elenora Fagan & Friends

Wrong show. It's suppose to be Noise: A night of experimental music and sound art.

Re: “The curious case of Heath Morrison’s resignation

Why not offer the job to Deputy Superintendent Ann Clark and get back to educating our children? Our children do not deserve to function in the limbo of "stand-by mode"

Re: “BREAKING: CMS superintendent to resign

(Disclaimer: I pulled my son out of CMS and opted for charter school outside of the county.) I don't believe that a lot of what happens with these positions has anything to do with hiring from within, hiring a northerner or any such rubbish ^^^^. Charlotte (occupants) seem to have a civil war mentality, and if I hear one more person say, "this is how we do it in the south..." Welcome to the REAL WORLD, most of which doesn't operate like Charlotte. Many of the children here can't read or write while folks here tout global and STEM education, but want to function as if we are in the 1800s. An educator that leads a school system needs to have a global view, understand the people that they serve, but most important, have a PLAN to educate the children who attend school in CMS. In my experience, many teachers here admit that their students struggle to read and write. One teacher who recently resigned said she did so because "CMS is raising a bunch of dummies." Yes, she has a northern education...UCONN. Admittedly, everyone's hands seem to be tied. Bring in an "outsider" and I'm sure they here at least 5 times/week "this is how we do it here." And I hope they have the courage to ask: How's that working for CMS so far? You could function without a superintendent, with one from the north, west, east, south and still end up with kids who will never make it outside of an NC college/university where the deficient education seems acceptable. It is my hope that the next superintendent EXPOSES the bureaucracy in this school system, stands up to the good 'ole boy system, and has a REAL plan to educate CMS students, whether they come from here or not.

Re: “A look at why the African-American cultural scene struggles to thrive in Charlotte

And why do only see the validation of black culture and entertainment when it's mainstreamed? If isn't uptown then it isn't successful.

Re: “BREAKING: CMS superintendent to resign

Is anyone going to mention the fact that thus resignation is taking place the night before an Election Day when the voters will be asked to pay .025 on the dollar to help give raises to teacher aides and veteran teachers?

Re: “Gro takes Greek back to its tasty, healthy roots

I must say any food lover would be happy to eat at gro. Fresh ingredients, pleasant people, and unique. The menu isnt complicated and employees welcome to suggest. Comapred to many gyro joints, their food at first bite made me go OPA!

Re: “A look at why the African-American cultural scene struggles to thrive in Charlotte

Interesting article! I think most of the responses make valid points. I left Charlotte over a year ago and I miss the small quaint circles of creative people I was just getting to know. I live in the DMV area now and it is pretentious and overpriced. I think Charlotte has a lot to offer but could stand to be a little more inclusive to newcomers and focus on being authentic.

Re: “BREAKING: CMS superintendent to resign

nobody that lives in charlotte is qualified, prob cause theyre a racist scumbag from charlotte, the new supervisor must be from the north , because anyone that grew up in this craphole of the southern us is gonna be a racist idiot, thats all they grow here in charlotte. So lets start looking in New Hampshire or maine for someone thats educated and understands the importance of a public school system before all the repooplinutsos take over our schools and our country

Re: “BREAKING: CMS superintendent to resign

I can't believe it - I'm "liking" a DLP comment!

But DLP is exactly right - these bureauwhores just want to jump from market to market, not unlike TV reporters or disc jockeys. Morrison struck me from the start as a "my goatee or the highway" crybaby.

BTW I randomly searched for a PRIVATE Charlotte school - Charlotte Latin's "Head Of School" has been in the same job since 2001. Time to SEPARATE "school" and "state" completely.

Re: “The voting so far: Not so hot for Republicans

We hear regularly that it is your responsibility to vote. I disagree. It is your RIGHT to vote. If you don't even know who the candidates are, then your participation just turns the election into a lottery. Voting for the name that sounds familiar is why 85% of incumbents get reelected.
