Re: “Live review: Twenty One Pilots, CMCU Amphitheatre (6/28/2016)

For some background, Joseph and Dun hail from Columbus, Ohio. They started the musical duo in 2009 (with a few former members)

Re: “About that arsenic in your water...

Dear readers,

I would like to thank Sam P. for pointing out the error on the map. After speaking with some folks who recreate on the sandbar, I have created a new map that I've asked Creative Loafing editors to run as a correction when they return to work on Monday. (If I could post it in this comment, I would.) The point on the map where those people say they hang out is, according to Google Maps' measuring tool, 797 feet away from the #5 marker on the map in the article.

As someone who also hangs out on the lake, though not on the sandbar -- as Sam P. pointed out, I don't seem welcomed there -- I have witnessed people recreating in the area of the #5 marker and have video footage of people hanging out there. I have also encountered several fishermen in that cove on several occasions.

My goal as a journalist is to inform, not to do any of the negative things Sam P. suggested. I am always happy to correct an article when warranted and welcome future correction suggestions.

With that, I will say that I am disappointed by the tone of Sam P.'s comments and the other accusations that he made which are unwarranted and mean-spirited. And, to correct him, the city has only commented on the treated drinking water, not on the safety of the sandbar or the sediment in the lake. To my knowledge, no one from the city, county, state or federal government is studying the sediment in the lake or the composition of the sandbar.

What I think would be good is if both NCDEQ and independent researchers conducted studies at the sandbar to clarify this issue.

Best regards,
Rhiannon Fionn

Re: “About that arsenic in your water...

Rhiannon is a seasoned environmental journalist. She is founder, producer and director of the documentary Coal Ash Chronicles and is known as the Coal Ash Queen. So yeah, I'd say she's pretty much an authority on the subject matter. #Bye

Re: “About that arsenic in your water...

That's not the point chubs. The point is this is supposed to be a reporter or at least someone that is educated but it's convenient to stretch false things and misrepresent facts if it fits the goal . But I'm cool to go back and swim there and I'm sure hundred or so of us will be out this weekend and the city says it's safe so go ahead and come out . Meet us at the spot on this map first tho so you can see what a dumbass peice of shit this story is ok

Re: “NC Tavern

If I could give these fools zero stars, I would! My experience was not only shocking but down right offensive! I went here to meet up with my good friend. I sat at the bar waiting for service for 15 min before I asked what the hold up was because others were being served before me. She said "I refuse to serve over there anymore!" I was in shock bc i never been here before and i just sat down! I called the manager to tell him the situation and he igonored me! I believe the staff is racist against african americans!! What other reason would they have to serve a complete stranger who was dressed nicely and respectful!

Re: “About that arsenic in your water...

Whatever high school intern wrote this story is lying about where the sandbar is actually it is at least another 1000 feet north out of that tiny picture but I guess nobody cares if you complain about environmental stuff

Re: “Massage therapist in Charlotte offers happy women

It's really no big deal, I worked as a masseur for close to 40 years, off and on. Just as a sideline, it was tough to earn a good living being a male back then in this profession.
Housewives, singles, about 5-10% will like the personal touch, and a bit of practice lets a person learn the teasing and tricks.
Just hands, harmless, between adults, no real sex involved.

Megan was recommended at Salon 8 by a friend. I called for an appointment with Megan and informed receptionist that I have thick curly hair and have a layered cut. She left the phone, to speak with Megan, regarding my hair type. When the receptionist came back on the phone, she stated,"Michael would be better for my type of hair. Received an appointment reminder call, day before the appointment. Caller stated my appointment was with Michael at 2:00 PM. When I arrived, was shown where to change and asked to have a seat. A young woman than came an escorted me to a chair and stated asking. "What's up with my hair today." I asked if she was Michael, reply no I am Page. No one informed me my appointment had been changed to someone one else: When I asked the receptionist why was I not informed, reply it is in your best interest. I explained my disappointment in not being consulted or informed. No apology, no offer to reschedule me. I walked out. I feel an apologize and explanation is due me.

Re: “Christian punks MxPx wrestle with doubt — and greatness

It really sucks. The article states that he didn't preach when he was a teenager, but that simply isn't true. Pokinatcha was very straightforward Christian album. As a teenager growing up listening to mxpx in the 90s, I was heavily inspired by the way a band like that could walk the fine line between not being legalistic and still being Christian. It's a total bummer that he's moved past his faith, as that is something that's going to catch up with him in the end unfortunately. Also, he has such a high influence with the youth and most of what I've heard from him in interviews, on stage, and on his radio show isn't even middle-ground secularism, but sometimes very vulgar. I'm not trying to judge, but it's an absolute shame that he has so much potential to positively influence a younger audience and can't do anything with it. I honestly feel like he should retire mxpx and start something new. The band was formed and marketed end brought through the ranks of the Christian music Market - if the band is no longer reflecting any of that, the sensible thing to do would be to put it to rest.

Re: “Andy the Doorbum declares an art war on Charlotte

I was only trying to make Charlotte more like I would have liked it to be and encourage others to do the same however they saw fit. Of course, by getting out there I was promoting my own ideas, as well as those who participated, but I was also trying to open a door for others to feel fearless about doing that themselves. I certainly never intended to come off as some high and mighty know-it-all and never intended any cultural appropriation in my costume and painting ideas, though they were inspired in part by the Native American cultures of which my Great Grandfather was a member. I hate that some took it this way, but ultimately, what's done is done and I have no desire to look back with regrets. I miss Charlotte and hope that it is treating everyone well, including the critics in these comments. All the best to all of you.
