Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made

Sat., July 23, 7 p.m.

In 1989, three friends finished their fan adaptation of the 1981 classic, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. After six years of filming, it became a cult classic as the fan-made replica of the blockbuster was filmed shot-for-shot (almost). Raiders! follows the original filmmakers’ journey as they film the last of the adaptation two decades later. For more information, visit www.charlottefilmsociety.com. $5-$10.

Join the Charlotte Film Society in their Back Alley Film Series as they screen Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made. After Steven Spielberg's classic Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 35 years ago, three 11-year-old boys from Mississippi set out on what would become a 7-year-long labor of love and tribute to their favorite film: a faithful, shot-for-shot adaptation of the action adventure film. They finished every scene...except one; the film's explosive airplane set piece. Eric Zala, subject of the film and Director of the remake fan film, will be in attendance for a Q&A. $5 CFF Member, $10 General Public
