"Toys, Games and TRAINS" Exhibit

This annually recurring exhibit fills the Museum with model train displays assembled by the Piedmont “S” Gaugers, as well as railroad memorabilia, and antique toys and games. Visitors of all ages will be enchanted as they explore the miniature snow-covered scenes that line the tracks, and discover the interactive features such as a carousel, chocolate factory, hot air balloons, and mailbag pickup. Parents and grandparents will enjoy reminiscing with the children about the toys and games of their childhood, such as cowboy memorabilia, doll houses, marbles, and board games. Bring your cameras! FREE

10am-3pm: Experience the magic of the Toys, Games & TRAINS exhibit, and tour the historic Barber House decorated for the holidays. Learn about the history of Christmas celebrations, and participate in traditional craft demonstrations led by 18th century costumed interpreters. Bring home your own hand-made ornaments! 3pm-5pm: City of Kings Mountain’s annual Christmas Parade.5pm-7pm: Enjoy a special “night run” of the Toys, Games & TRAINS exhibit, candlelight tours of the historic Barber House, and hot apple cider with cookies by the firelight. Join us for an "urban hike” along the Carolina Thread Trail and Mecklenburg County’s Stewart Creek Greenway. “Tails on the Trail” is a dog-friendly, rain-or-shine event that’s free and open to all - and a great opportunity to experience the in-town connectivity that trails like this provide. Starting at Blue Blaze Brewing in historic West End, we’ll ramble up the greenway to Draft Charlotte, Rhino Market and Deli, and back. GoGoKu food truck will be onsite at Blue Blaze as well! Dave Dondero has been releasing folk tunes for over a decade, after his stint with Clemson, South Carolina based Sunbrain. His newest release, With Love, is all too familiar for folks who heard 2013’s This Guitar. Released on Nov. 4, the album features the song “Boxer’s Fracture,” written after 2012’s horrific movie theater shootings Aurora, Colorado and in response to gun enthusiasts. Leandro Manzo: Mar de Mares

This is the second solo exhibition featuring works by Argentinian artist Leandro Manzo at LaCa Projects. A figurative expressionist whose work spans over 30 years, Manzo uses thick brushstrokes and vibrant color to create striking landscape paintings. His new body of work will also feature portraits and black and white images. Opening reception on Nov. 18, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Free admission
