“Lights. Camera. NASCAR.” Exhibit Don’t miss the red-carpet worthy, star-studded coming attraction at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “Lights. Camera. NASCAR.” illustrates the tremendous appeal NASCAR holds both on the track and the big screen. Glitz and glamour await as you explore NASCAR’s legacy in Hollywood from the promotion of blockbusters like “Jurassic Park” to starring roles in smash hits like “Days of Thunder.” Artifacts are ready for their close-ups and include items like the Doc Hudson car from “CARS,” the Wonder Bread car from “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and dozens of other artifacts straight from the set. Admission is $19.95 for adults, $17.95 for seniors and military, $12.95 for children 5-12 and free for children younger than 5.

Catawba Canoe & Kayak-a-thon

N.C. Wildlife Federation’s seven-mile paddle across a stretch of the Catawba River raises money for the natural resource conservation. The Latin American Coalition takes over Midwood International and Cultural Center on June 22, 2013, for the fourth annual Caribbean Celebration, ¡Azúcar! This year’s unique, indoor-outdoor festival features the tropical sounds of Puerto Rican salsa, Dominican bachata, and Cuban son. The intoxicating smell of Cuban cuisine will lure you from the dance floor to the outdoor plaza where you can enter the domino competition, peruse the wears from local craft vendors, and, of course, dive into a mouth-watering Cuban sandwich. $12 in advance, $15 the day of the event

U.S. National Whitewater Center’s craft beer festival. In addition to craft beer tastings, the event will include live music and a Brew Dash 6K that winds through the center’s trail system. For $5, you can purchase a craft beer card that gets you four beer samples per card (non-samplers can enter for free and listen to the bands). The Brew Dash is $27. Brew Dash begins at 11 a.m., beer tastings from 1 p.m.-6 p.m.; live music throughout the day (Railroad Earth goes on at 8 p.m.).
