The Bechtler Ensemble in Concert

The Arts at Queens invites you to The Bechtler Ensemble's first concert of this semester. The Ensemble-in-Residence at Queens was founded by cellist Tanja Bechtler, who is also the director of the Bechtler Ensemble. The Ensemble offers performances that connect the historical and creative contents of music pieces to selected works of modern art from the Bechtler Museum. Tanja Bechtler has been an orchestral player with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and has performed professionally at Lincoln Center and the Spoleto Festival. free

Charlotte Concert Band: "Celebrations"

Sat., Feb. 25, 7-9 p.m.

The Arts at Queens invites you to see The Charlotte Concert Band, a performing ensemble in the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. This concert highlights some of the most celebrated festive music written for wind band. The program features the world-renown composer James Curnow as a guest conductor. The evening also includes "Festive Overture" by Dimitri Shostakovich, "Celebrations" by John Zdechlik, "La Fiesta Mexicana" by H. Owen Reed, and "Puszta" by Jan van der Roost. Charlotte Concert Band is a community band sponsored by Queens. free
