'Fahrenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury has been chosen as Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s One Book community read with events planned for April 13-19, 2014, to coincide with National Library Week. The Library encourages adults and teens throughout the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community to read the same book and to come out to readings, book discussions, film showings, and other programs that bring the book’s themes to life. The Arts Council of York County is accepting applications for 2015 gallery exhibitions in the Center for the Arts' Dalton Gallery. The Dalton Gallery, a professional gallery appropriated for the exhibition of experienced artists and community projects, is an 1,800-square-foot space, illuminated by adjustable track lighting. Ken Hoffman’s anthropomorphic animal portrait paintings convey animal-people expressions & how close humans are to animal counterparts. Brian Mashburn’s chaotic landscape series centers on the unrestrained sprawl of cities, industry pollution, & overpopulation.
