Let’s Play Ball will give the history of the Matthews Athletic and Recreational Association the organization from its founding in 1956 to the present. What started as an effort to sponsor a Little League Baseball Program has grown over the years to include programs for softball, baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and cheerleading. The community has supported this growth and MARA continues with a strong youth program today and thirteen fields for sports. $4.00 adults, $2 for 10 - 17, under 10 free

Pottery 51 - Open House on First Friday each month

Starting Aug 1st, Pottery 51 will hold an Open House on the 1st Friday each month as we celebrate Mint Hill's "Art Around the Block", promote our pottery and sign up students for lessons. Please come out and meet us! Pottery 51 has joined with local Mint Hill artists and businesses for “Art Around the Block”, an evening of fine art, music, demonstrations, entertainment and more. The monthly ““Art Around the Block” event will feature displays of pottery, paintings and other fine art by local artists, promote local restaurants and other businesses offering music and theater lessons. The event will be filmed and broadcast on WUTV. Award-winning journalist and former WBTV reporter/anchor Sarah Batista, will interview the four nonprofits who will share their stories in front of the audience. Four pre-selected non-profits will have an opportunity to be interviewed by award-winning journalist Sarah Batista, and tell their stories in a “talk show” format in front of community members, students, social entrepreneurs, local media and other non-profits. One of these four non-profits to win a free video by Stories to Inspire valued at $5,000. Proceeds from tickets will go to the non-profit you select. Featured non-profits $10.00
