Event Description Join us for a fun evening of fingerpainting at the City Art Room. 1 Rule: No Brushes Allowed. All art supplies will be provided including unlimited 14"x 17" paper, aprons, and gloves (for people who don't want to use bare hands). You are encouraged to bring you own spirituous beverages, soft drinks, and foods. Participants will be seated on the floor. Please bring a pillow or seat cushion for more comfort. Join us for the inaugural Foothills Folk Art Festival on Saturday, October 1, in Downtown Newton, N.C. This family friendly festival, which is expected to draw around 3,000 visitors, will showcase a variety of local and regional contemporary folk artists—whose work will be for sale—as well as artist demos, hands-on kids activities, two stages of live music, food from area restaurants and food truck vendors, beer gardens and more. The festival—formerly known as the Lake Norman Folk Art Festival—is made possible thanks to a partnership between the Downtown Newton Development Association and Hickory Museum of Art. Free
