Memorial Day Trail Race 5 & 8 Miler

Kick off Memorial Day weekend with a challenging five- or eight-mile race through the USNWC trail system. The races will be followed by a Memorial Day celebration that includes entertainment, food, drink, fireworks and live music.

Don’t miss the red-carpet worthy, star-studded community celebration at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The “Lights. Camera. NASCAR.” Premiere Party is full of kid-friendly activities to celebrate the premiere of this special exhibit. Glitz and glamour await as you explore NASCAR’s legacy in Hollywood from the promotion of blockbusters like “Jurassic Park” to starring roles in smash hits like “Days of Thunder.” Artifacts are ready for their close-ups and include items like the Doc Hudson car from “Cars,” the Wonder Bread car from “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and dozens of other artifacts straight from the set.
Admission is $19.95 for adults, $17.95 for seniors and military, and free for kids 12 and under.
Catawba Canoe & Kayak-a-thon

N.C. Wildlife Federation's seven-mile paddle across a stretch of the Catawba River raises money for natural resource conservation. Brew Dash 6K

The Brew Dash is a challenging 6K race that kicks off the 2nd annual Brew Stash Bash. Participants will complete the course in time for Brew Stash festivities that include live music, food and a wide selection of the Southeast's top craft beers.

Triathlon begins at Shelby City Park, Shelby, NC. Outdoor 10 lane Olympic size overflow pool, where participants will snake down the pool swimming one direction in each lane. Transition area is located a mere 50 meters away on the front lawn of the Park, allowing excellent spectator vantage points. 20 kilometer bike course takes participants into uptown Shelby where they immediately turn out of town onto rolling hills. Participants will then circle back towards town. The 5K run is nearly completely flat, on some of the most scenic streets in Shelby. Event benefits the Arts Council. USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

"Baseball As Art" a Negro Leagues Retrospective
