Silver Star Community, Inc. and Charlotte Museum of History present a dinner and presentation by Stephanie Deutsch. Ms. Deutsch, whose husband is a great-grandson of Julius Rosenwald, will discuss the inspiring story of the partnership between Booker T. Washington and Julius Rosenwald to provide schools for the African American community in the South in the early twentieth century. This program will benefit the restoration of the Siloam Rosenwald School, relocate and install it at the Charlotte Museum of History, creation of an exhibition on Charlotte and Mecklenburg County’s African American history, and provide an endowment to maintain the building. Tickets are $25 per person.

Aldersgate will host the Second Annual International Sandwich Festival on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The free, public festival celebrates the vibrant cultural diversity of east Charlotte, bringing international flavor and intergenerational activities to the front lawn of Aldersgate at 3800 Shamrock Drive. Enjoy food from around the world and a rich blend of entertainment featured on UNC Charlotte's Mobile Arts & Community Experience (MAX) stage.
