The kitchen specializes in traditional breakfast and lunch dishes and has one section devoted to lighter appetites. The lure of a stack of cakes seems to instigate swoons and clamor throughout the dining room.
The dishes mingle in-season farmers-market fruits with a fancy Continental technique. Krista Duggan makes all of the dough in-house. Cast Iron's toppings include fresh whipped cream, maple butter, Nutella and fresh fruits. One of the more popular waffles features a mix of pureed berries. Another has sliced kiwi, bananas, Nutella and whipped cream.
Since 1977, the Margiotis family has been serving good-old, straightforward, home-cooked breakfast in Plaza Midwood with their simple menu of eggs, bacon, pancakes and pork chops.
This is a chain restaurant, but the pancakes are so good. The apple pancake is a huge, puffy affair big enough for at least two people. There are plenty of other flavors, too. Expect to wait in line on weekends.
