Small family-owned, counter-service sandwich shop uses quality ingredients with a keen sense of balance and flavor. The menu is filled with shish tawook, kabob, shawarma, and falafel sandwiches. Try the Zaatar starter.
Many menu items are vegetarian or can be made as such, and much of their produce is locally sourced and organic. This is no place for fast food junkies, there is no fryer in this kitchen.
Chef and partner Jim Alexander's cooking is classical and luxurious, and the wine list is deep. Although located in an office building, the pine paneling and fireplace give it an intimate feel.

Worthy of note is the three-hour slow-cooked meat sauce and the spicy spaghetti arribbiatta. The oddity (speaking as a former resident of the Manhattan area) is the open flame thin-crust grilled pizza. But, no worries. They serve regular pliable crust pizzas, too.
The restaurant uses plant-based proteins and no diary and eggs for familiar dishes without the meat. Menu for vegans is full of possibilities.
