Last year, a young man became wildly famous for his tortured plea to "Leave Britney Alone," on YouTube. He was talking about Britney Spears. I would like to reiterate his words in relation to Amy Winehouse, who is in rehab for a terrible drug habit. Just
a few weeks ago, she was photographed smoking crack, in addition to earlier photos of her walking around, sans shoes, in a cold and rainy London. Now, she is sprung from rehab in order to perform for the Grammys? As the late Nell Carter would say, "Give me a break." This is the problem with the entertainment industry specifically, and the world in general — when people are hurting, they need to be left alone. Anyone that is familiar with the extremely high caliber of Winehouse's performances knows that this was a terrible one. People do need uplift in their lives, but they also need time to heal and recover.
It is ridiculous that a woman with the level of problems that she is having would be allowed to perform on the Grammys. Perhaps the motivation that she needs to get clean would be to miss out on the most important day of her professional life? Regardless, rehab exists for a reason. Leave Amy alone and let her heal.
