Take the coffee pledge

Posted by Priscilla Tsai on Thu, Nov 13, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Did you know that coffee drinkers toss away 28 billion disposable coffee cups each year, cramming landfills with uncompostable trash?

You can do your part to help the environment by either bringing your own reusable travel mugs to coffee shops instead of getting a disposable cup each time, or taking the Good Earth Coffee "Brew at Home" pledge. The pledge is a commitment to brew more at home and to toss less.

Good Earth Premium Coffee will donate $1 to the Trust for Public Land if you take a pledge to brew your coffee at home! Take the pledge at their website.

Charlotte blog "Cheap & Free in Charlotte" has a post about this pledge as well.

Hello! I was happy to stumble across your blog - the vast amount of waste generated by disposable coffee mugs is pretty awful. I love the pledge too! Just wanted to share that the company I work for (Aladdin) makes a great travel coffee mug that's actually made out of recycled polypropylene and is dishwasher safe! If you're curious, you can check them out here : http://www.aladdin-pmi.com/shop/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-00752-005 Thanks!
