TV: This should do wonders for Time Warner Cable's customer satisfaction surveys.

Civil Rights: The guy convicted in the death of Sean Kennedy could be out of prison in July. Kennedy was beaten to death after a man called him a "faggot" outside of a Columbia, S.C., nightclub. South Carolina has no hate crimes law and the federal hate crimes law does not include sexual orientation.

FWIW: Just a little something to think about when you consider bailing out Detroit.

Civil Rights: Some of the original Tuskegee Airman will be at the inauguration to see Obama take office.

Short-bus annals: Joe the Plumber displays his grasp of the Bill of Rights.

Animal welfare: Starving horses seized from Wake County home.
