UNC-Charlotte students walk out for a DREAM

DREAM stands for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act.

About 40 UNC Charlotte students gathered at the Belk Tower on campus Tuesday to protest a state bill that would prohibit illegal immigrants from attending community colleges.

They called for support of a federal bill that would allow undocumented students to earn citizenship after going to college or serving in the military.

They joined more than 350 students from N.C. State, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina A&T State University who participated in demonstrations organized by the Coalition for College Access, a student group formed in Chapel Hill.
