This makes sense: People and companies are having a difficult time paying for the permits and reservations you already offer, Mecklenburg County, so the thing to do is raise your rates.
Mecklenburg residents could pay more to rent park facilities and apply for zoning and other construction permits. You also could see your stormwater fees rise in your monthly water bills.On Tuesday, county commissioners received a preview of proposed fee increases being sought by the county's Park and Recreation and Land Use and Environmental Services Agency.
Commissioners could vote on some of the increases next month. Others won't be final until the county board approves a budget in June.
The proposed fee increases come at a shaky time for the county. Money raised through fees has fallen during the recession, in part because of a drop-off in construction.
