Operation Iraqi Baseball

Posted by Rhiannon Fionn-Bowman on Thu, Jul 16, 2009 at 3:25 PM

A couple nights ago, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow posed a question: How can we help get the Iraqi National Baseball team some gear?

You see, they have three baseballs, one 5-year-old bat, one jersey and nine gloves — for the entire team. And, no one in Iraq sells baseball gear.

The response from her audience was impressive. The team will soon have everything they need, including cleats and custom jerseys.

"The response was, honestly, overwhelming and really heart-warming," Maddow said.

Now, she's encouraging her audience to continue spreading the generous spirit through "Operation Give."

Check it out last night's segment here.

Two things: Maddow didn't have the platform she has today while Bush was in the White House. Also, the story that brought the Iraqi baseball team's struggle to Maddow's attention was written on July 13, 2009. Here's a link: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/226/story/71740.html Did you watch the video? Because Maddow mentions this in the video. And, by the way -- what have you done for the citizens of Iraq, Frank? Anything? Is it possible for you to write something nice, Frank, or must everything you post be mean spirited? Why not answer your own questions, then post that information versus snarky questions you expect everyone else to answer for you. Do a little leg work. Make a difference. Stop bitching and do something to make our world a better place. Endless complaining isn't helpful.

Mr. Griffin, Do you despise Ms. Maddow because you are a lesbian-hater, just a regular woman-hater, or a Rhodes Scholar hater? Either way, I do not waste my time following a foolish 'man'... such as yourself.
