Christmas on a cross

Posted by John Grooms on Wed, Dec 9, 2009 at 7:18 PM

This is rich. Someone has found a way to make money off the crabby pseudo-Christians who, egged on by Bill O’Reilly and radio talkers, complain about the so-called “War on Christmas.” It’s the “CHRISTmas tree” — basically a plastic tree with a big cross attached to it — which its creator, one Marsha Boggs, says is “a weapon in the war on Christmas.”

Boggs says, "When I became a Christian a few years ago, I was appalled by the secularization of the Christmas holiday. When retail stores started substituting 'Happy Holidays' for 'Merry Christmas,' and schools began calling their Christmas programs 'Winter Plays,' it all seemed ridiculous to me. That's why we have created products that remind people what the Christmas season is really all about - the birth of Christ."

And out of the goodness of her Christian heart, Boggs is letting you have the CHRIST-mas tree, which features “fir style branches made of the highest quality polyethylene,” for a mere $399.99.

What better way to celebrate Christmas than by going around all pissed off, gnashing your teeth over vaguely defined “enemies,” and then telling those foes “Screw you, atheist liberal scum” by putting up a plastic Christmas tree that includes a replica of an ancient execution tool?

Happy holidays!

Actually, the decorated tree is from the celebration of the winter solstice in honor of Saturnus, the god of agriculture before THAT holiday way hijacked by the Christians in the 1500s. No one knows what time of year Jesus was actually born.

Did you see that on the same day you published this article (Dec. 9) that the Christmas tree in front of the Capitol broke in two? That wasn’t a small accomplishment for the 85-foot Blue spruce, which was delivered to the United States Congress on November 30, 2009. This was the first time Arizona has ever given the annual Christmas tree to the U.S. Capitol along with nearly 10,000 handmade ornaments. Hum… Sign of the times?

Too bad they didn't have George Bush crucified on that cross tree. Amen.

Correction. It was the Christmas tree at the Tennessee State Capitol that broke in two. That's almost more significant since the press release for the "CHRIST'mas" tree came out of Nashville too.

Yeah Frank. How about maybe she just hates people like you and your republican kind. Don't think I've seen more hate and lies spew from someone against our President and the Democrats as much as you have. Talk about a crazy haired psycho. Guess you haven't read your own crap lately. Oh, and nice repbulican touch to make negative references against homeless people. Better go have your Klan robe dry cleaned before the rally.

Oh this should be interesting! You have intentionally threatened Obama with your hatred and malicious comments. I hope everyone on here joins me in reporting you! It should be quite a hoot to see you get paid a visit from the very government that you love to trash! Good luck, Frankie!
