Virginia Foxx to have first serious challenger

Posted by John Grooms on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 5:18 PM

It looks like the infamous Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-Nutjobbia) will have real competition, for a change, in November. Democrat Billy Kennedy, who describes himself as being from “the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party,” announced that he will file next week to run for the congressional seat currently held by Foxx, who has become famous for her gaffes and over-the-top statements, such as her comments that health care reform is “more dangerous than any terrorist” and would result in Americans “being put to death by their government.”

Kennedy’s platform espouses reform measures for health care, banking, and farm policy, and a focus on bread and butter issues that could help his unemployment-stricken district. Foxx has yet to face a strong challenger, and Kennedy, from all indications, will give her a run for her money, while emphasizing his "regular guy" image. Let’s face it, nearly anyone would be better than Foxx, but Kennedy seems to be a particularly serious candidate, so here’s wishing him good luck.

Haha! Seriously! I guess we know there is no objectivity in CL. Some cabinet maker from the sticks is supposed to over come the huge Foxx warchest in a GOP year? Pull your head out.

Don't underestimate Billy Kennedy. Just keep thinking he's just some hick cabinet maker instead of a populist who calls em like he sees em, and who is on working peoples' sides. Foxx is an idiot and an embarrassment. And where'd she get that war chest anyway. We the people would like to know.

Hope Virginia Foxx will be flushed out this year, she has been there for too long and is a disgrace to North Carolina

The teabagger queen is going to get kicked out. Foxx has been there for 2 long and should leave. Just saying NO is not what she was sent to congress to do.
