A rip roaring rapture is swiftly approaching Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, and you’d better bet Deborah Zoe Laufer’s play End Days has a lot to do with it. Under direction from Chip Decker, this twisted drama zooms in on one very (very, very, very!) warped family. Consisting of a mother who is a frenzied evangelizing Christian (not to mention delusional: She sees dead people, well really just Jesus. Oh, and she thinks an apocalypse is on the way); a father who is depressed and in question of his own existence; and an atheist daughter who has taken black to a whole ‘nother level with her goth inhabited lifestyle. But, what’s a family without a strange neighbor? Ain’t nothing but a hound dog, as an Elvis-fixated Jewish neighbor lingering for a chance at the gothic goodies next door is also mixed in the madness. Previews of the play will go down tonight (April 9) and tomorrow (April 10), which means a cheaper ticket price to get in. Regular shows begin April 14 and run through May 1. $15 for previews; $24-$29 for all other performances. Dates/times are as followed: April 9-10, 8 p.m. April 14-15, 7:30 p.m.; April 16-17, 8 p.m.; April 21-22, 7:30 p.m.; April 23-24, 8 p.m.; April 25, 2:30 p.m.; April 28-29, 7:30 p.m. April 30-May 1, 8 p.m.
