Hunger inducing exhibits

Posted By on Fri, Oct 7, 2011 at 4:33 PM

Ciel Gallery’s exhibit Delish opens tonight (which is also the grand reopening of the gallery in its new location) with a county fair-themed reception where corn dogs and caramel corn (kinda gross combination, right?) will be served, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. The exhibit's main focus is food, meaning edibles are referenced in every piece. Hopefully, just seeing them won’t make tummies growl. Carol Shelkin’s stained glass mosaic, titled “Flavor of the Month” (see photo below), shows a boy with ice cream smeared across his face. And, for those who can't make it tonight, the exhibit continues through Oct. 29. Ciel Gallery + Mosaic Studio, 128 E. Park Ave, Suite C. www.cielcharlotte.com.

Another food-related exhibit will be unveiled on Oct. 14 (reception from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.) at Mint Hill Arts. Artwork, all influenced by grub, will be on exhibit through Nov. 4. Mint Hill Arts, 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte. 704-545-0894. www.minthillarts.org.
