Arts Charlotte Speed Demons home bout

The 25th marks the Charlotte Speed Demons' first home game where they will compete against the Appalachian Roller Girls. Don't let the name and intimidating image of a devil on their website fool you; this Charlotte women's roller derby team prides itself on being family-friendly. The Speed Demons forgo the theatrical outfits and stage names that other teams use in the hopes that roller derby will be taken more seriously as a sport. With a feature in the upcoming documentary Derby Baby and a hand in testing new roller derby rules that are being developed for the Olympic Games, they could just be on their way.
