Stephen Colbert's website reports that "The Daily Show" is going to film in Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention in September. According to the site:
Renata Luczak, spokeswoman for "The Daily Show," wouldn't talk about where the show would set up shop in Charlotte, only that it will broadcast from here Tuesday through Friday of convention week."They've always gone on the road convention week," Luczak said. "So they'll be going to the DNC and the RNC." (She means the Republican National Convention, in Tampa, Fla., in August)
The Charlotte Observer reported that Stewart's team is talking to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library about renting some of ImaginOn during convention week. Read more here.
UPDATE: The show will air from ImaginOne Sept. 4-7. According to an ImaginOn press release:
The revenue from "The Daily Show's" rental will supplement the Library's operating budget, including services that support literacy, educational success and workforce development; and support Children's Theatre programs and infrastructure.Tickets to "The Daily Show" tapings in Charlotte may be requested at www.thedailyshow.com.
