Hallelujah for Nunsense

Posted By on Sun, Jun 10, 2012 at 9:00 AM

It seems Broadway has a nun fetish. From The Sound of Music to Sister Act, audiences can't seem to get enough of singing and dancing holy women. Matthews Playhouse of Performing Arts brings us another cast of sisters in Nunsense, a critically acclaimed off-Broadway musical.

In the show, The Little Sisters of Hoboken must bury a whopping 52 deceased members from the convent after a accidental poisoning by the cook who is also a fellow nun. To raise money for the burials, the remaining sisters put on a variety show. Hallelujah for goofy dancers in habits! $15-$17. June 10, 2 p.m., June 15-16, 8 p.m., June 17, 2 p.m. Matthews Playhouse, 100 McDowell St. 704-846-8343.
