LOL: Comedy in the Q.C.

Posted By on Tue, Jan 15, 2013 at 11:11 AM

Listed below is a roundup of CL's top picks for comedy shows in Charlotte this week. Hopefully, they keep you entertained and, more importantly, laughing out loud.

There's something about being a part of an audience for a live TV show taping that makes for a fun experience. Directors are counting on - in addition to prepared hosts and compelling guests - audience feedback. Folks interested in participating in a taping of Crazy Late with Johnny Millwater should head over to The Comedy Zone on Wednesday. Millwater hosts the show with co-host Sid Davis. Both are local Charlotte-area comedians. This week's episode features the band Junque Gallery, poet Queen Sheba, magician Hannibal and (shameless promotion here) myself - Anita Overcash. $10. Jan. 16, 8 p.m. The Comedy Zone Charlotte, 900 N.C. Music Factory Blvd., Suite B3. 980-321-4702.

Local improv act The Chuckleheads aren't taking the Mayans' false predictions of the world ending lightly. The troupe's latest show, "The Mayans Were Wrong So Let's Party Comedy Improv Musical Variety Extravaganza," will feature comedy (similar to Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Improv-a-ganza, and the Second City,) games, activities and audience participation. For more information or to purchase advanced tickets, visit $10-$15. Jan. 19, 8 p.m. Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, 911 E. Morehead St. 704- 377-3808.
