Avett Brothers showcase their metal side for Jimmy Fallon

The Avett Brothers, who will perform at Time Warner Cable Arena for New Year's Eve, performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night and showcased a bit of their metal side.

First, they did a brief infomercial-style skit about a new album called The Avett Brothers Sing Heavy Metal, performing portions of Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills," Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" and Metallica's "One." (If you're wondering, the website mentioned, www.avettdeath.com, is not a real site.)

The end of the show featured the Avett Brothers performing "Vanity" with Chris Cornell.

The Avett Brothers new album, Magpie and the Dandelion, is due out on Oct. 15.
